Background
The North Coast Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (NCIRWMP) is a highly successful collaboration among seven north coast counties and hundreds of stakeholders in the North Coast region – including public agencies, NGOs, landowner organizations, tribal groups, business and the interested public. The NCIRWMP acts a locally driven catalyst for positive environmental and economic change in the North Coast region. The NCIRWMP is the highest ranked Integrated Plan in California, and has been awarded over $26 million to implement projects that address critical challenges related to water supply and quality and ecosystem protection. Additional funds of at least $37 million are forthcoming via Proposition 84. The NCIRWMP focuses on three thematic areas: a) salmonid recovery, b) enhancing the beneficial uses of water, c) local autonomy, and places a special emphasis on enhancing public health and economic vitality in disadvantaged communities.
North Coast IRWMP Conference
The NCIRWMP first conference is an opportunity for stakeholders to learn about future trends, challenges and opportunities, to hear from their legislators about upcoming policy changes, and to participate in shaping the vision for the North Coast region. The conference is partially funded by grants from DWR and the State Water Resources Control Board, as well as generous matching funds from the seven counties that comprise the leadership of the NCIRWMP. However, additional financial support is needed to make the conference a resounding success, and to ensure that it will be a resource for the north coast region in the years to come.Benefits of Sponsorship
