Crescent City Wastewater Treatment Plant Renovation

Project Abstract:
The Crescent City Wastewater Treatment Plant Renovation generally consists of new influent pumping equipment and controls, new grit removal system, primary clarifier modifications, upsize and upgrade site piping, removal of underground storage tank and contaminated soil, and addition of membrane bioreactors, ultraviolet disinfection and effluent pumping for the production water that comports with the requirements of Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations (Title 22).
Project Goals:
- Renovate and expand the City of Crescent City Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Improve the capacity of the Crescent City wastewater treatment system to adequately treat wastewater to meet pollution control standards for water discharged into the Pacific Ocean habitat.
- Reduce the dependence on potable water taken from the Smith River habitat for agricultural irrigation.
- Satisfy the requirements to remove the California Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Cease and Desist Order placed on the City of Crescent City.
