Fish Friendly Farming Environmental Certification Program

Project Abstract

The Fish Friendly Farming (FFF) program will work directly with landowners to address three habitat and sediment reduction locations.  The FFF Program includes the Russian River at Talmage floodplain riparian habitat restoration (10 acre site), Wine Creek riparian corridor restoration and channel form revision (1 acre site), and Summerhome Park on lower Russian River invasive plant removal and native plant revegetation (19 acre site).

Project Goals

  1. Improve water quality through comprehensive sediment source control
  2. Revegetate riparian corridors and ephemeral waterways to increase biodiversity, eradicate invasive plants and increase shade to cool water temperatures
  3. Implement TMDLs for fine sediment and temperature in the Russian River watershed
  4. Provide long term maintenance for all projects and practices through cooperative agreements with landowners
