The major themes of the NCIRWMP are salmonid recovery, the beneficial uses of water and intra-regional cooperation. Phase 1 of the NCIRWMP was adopted in July 2005 and submitted to the State Water Resources Control Board and the Department of Water Resources for consideration. The NCIRWMP, Phase 1 will be the first major milestone in an adaptive management process for the North Coast – one that establishes and implements an ongoing framework for evaluation, planning, collaboration, project prioritization and implementation. We anticipate that this framework will support the state in meeting its goals of Integrated Regional Water Management Planning at both the local and regional scales, help to reduce the volume of disjointed, competing requests for funding submitted to state agencies, and increase the number and quality of local planning efforts that fit within already established statewide frameworks. |
